About us
We started after a restore that did not work
Coldharbor exists because a company we worked for lost eleven days of data with a green dashboard.
Origin
The dashboard was green for fourteen months
Every backup job reported success. Nobody had restored anything. When it mattered, the chain had been broken since a hypervisor upgrade the previous spring — and the job kept saying it was fine because it was still writing files. Testing restores automatically is the only defence, so we built the product around that instead of around the backup.
- Drills are included on every plan, not sold as an add-on
- Restores are free, always, including full site failover
- The recovery times on our site come from drills, not from marketing

3.1 PB protected

How we work
Boring on purpose
We would rather run software that is three years old and understood than something new that pages us at 04:00.
Own the path
We buy transit from multiple carriers and peer directly wherever it is possible, so a single bad hop is never a single point of failure.
Write it down
Every incident gets a public write-up. Every design decision gets an RFC. Institutional memory beats heroics.
Some of the people behind it
A quarter of the company has been here since the first rack.
We are hiring
Remote-first across EU time zones, with a small office network for people who prefer one.
